Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
When a visitor enters a name or case number into a search feature on this site, the entry is sent to the outside provider that operates that feature. That provider processes the request and returns any results. Shiawassee County Court Docket does not maintain a separate log or database of the search terms entered through those tools.
Messages and Contact Submissions
Messages sent by email may be retained so that a response can be provided. They are kept within the organization and are not shared outside it unless disclosure is required by a legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the servers and related services may receive technical information connected with that visit, including:
- The IP address associated with the device
- The browser and its version
- The device type and operating system
- Pages viewed and time spent on each page
- The referring site, when one is provided
- The date and time of each page view
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files stored on a device that help measure how visitors use the site, such as the pages that receive traffic and points where a visit ends. Analytics services may aggregate that information. Browser settings can be used to block cookies, although doing so may change how parts of the site function.
What We Do With This Data
Visitor information is used for ordinary operation, service delivery, and site improvement, including the following purposes:
- Operating the site and supporting reliable page delivery
- Routing search requests to the relevant partner service
- Assessing which pages are useful and which need improvement
- Identifying and resolving technical problems
- Displaying advertising that may be relevant to visitor interests
No Court-Record Data on File
Shiawassee County Court Docket does not host, compile, maintain, or sell a database of court dockets or personal case-record data. It publishes general information about local routes to records held by the 35th Judicial Circuit Court, the 66th District Court, and Probate Court staff. MiCOURT Case Search is a public informational lead, not an official court record.
The resource is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Information collected from visitors is not assembled into consumer reports or records about other people.
Third-Party Search Partners
Search features on this site are supplied by outside companies. Information entered into one of those tools is handled under that provider's privacy policy rather than this policy. Each provider controls its own retention and sharing practices, so review its policy before submitting a query.
Links to Other Websites
The site links to clerk pages, court portals, statewide case-search services, legal-aid resources, and third-party search tools. Selecting a link moves the visitor to another site, where that destination's privacy policy controls. Review the destination policy before providing personal information.
Some advertising partners may track activity across sites to deliver interest-based advertising. That activity occurs through their systems, not through a separate Shiawassee County Court Docket database.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Information may be available to the following recipients when necessary for the stated purpose or when a valid legal order requires disclosure:
- Search partners that process a query entered through the site
- Analytics services used to measure traffic and performance
- Advertising networks that place ads on site pages
- Law-enforcement or government bodies acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable standard security practices are used to protect information that is collected. No internet-based system can guarantee complete security, however, and a breach or other security failure cannot be ruled out.
Users Under 18
This site is intended for adults. It does not knowingly collect personal information from people under 18. If information from a minor is believed to have been provided, notify us so that it can be removed.
Your Data Rights
Michigan court-file access follows court rules rather than the ordinary Freedom of Information Act route. MCL 15.232 excludes the judiciary and a County Clerk acting as Circuit Court clerk from the relevant public-body definition. MCR 8.119 addresses access to trial-court case records, while MCR 1.109 protects listed identifiers in court filings. Those rules concern court files, not a private site's visitor records.
Depending on applicable privacy or consumer-protection law, a visitor may have additional rights regarding information held by this site. At a minimum, a visitor may:
- Request a copy of information held about that visitor
- Ask that incorrect information be corrected
- Request deletion of information
- Opt out of certain forms of data processing
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised from time to time. Any revision will be posted here with an updated effective date. Review this page periodically to stay informed about how visitor information is handled.
